Me.

Allow me to be frank at the commencement. You will not like me. The gentlemen will be envious and the ladies will be repelled. You will not like me now and you will like me a good deal less as we go on. Ladies, an announcement: I am up for it, all the time. That is not a boast or an opinion, it is bone hard medical fact. I put it round you know. And you will watch me putting it round and sigh for it. Don’t. It is a deal of trouble for you and you are better off watching and drawing your conclusions from a distance than you would be if I got my tarse up your petticoats. Gentlemen. Do not despair, I am up for that as well. And the same warning applies. Still your cheesy erections till I have had my say. But later when you shag – and later you will shag, I shall expect it of you and I will know if you have let me down – I wish you to shag with my homuncular image rattling in your gonads. Feel how it was for me, how it is for me and ponder. ‘Was that shudder the same shudder he sensed? Did he know something more profound? Or is there some wall of wretchedness that we all batter with our heads at that shining, livelong moment. That is it. That is my prologue, nothing in rhyme, no protestations of modesty, you were not expecting that I hope. I am bob soo, Second son of Jeffrey Soo and I do not want you to like me.

Patpong – Bangkok’s twilight zone – a diary

Patpong: two streets, a few side alleys, go-go bars, discos, blow-job bars, after hour joints, restaurants, pharmacies, VD clinics, bookstores, offices, souvenir shops, a few massage parlours, one supermarket, one kentucky fried chicken, one mcdonalds. Nana Plaza: three floors of go-go bars, beer bars and a snooker hall. Soi Cowboy: an alley lined with go-go bars. A few gay clubs on Silom Soi 2 and 4. Washington Square, for Vietnam vets and middle-aged Americans. Buckskin Joe Village, beer bars under the expressway. Grace Hotel area: the muslim world and Africans, occasional Russian hookers. Soi Taniya’s hostess clubs for the Japanese (Japanese only). And, of course, the incredible Thermae.

Bangkok’s twilight zone, sex’n'drugs’n'rock’n'roll. This is where the worlds meet, the rich, the poor, all cultures. In some rare moments of animalistic freedom, drunkenness and ecstacy, differences disappear, man, woman, man-woman.

A sexual underground where people get sucked in, changed, moulded, and eventually spat out.

Enjoy, but never love. Love makes you vulnerable. Love is the only thing that can’t be bought here and, if found, is usually an illusion. Hedonism is pure – if rarely simple. You can leave the zone but it will never leave you.

WELCOME

” Now you angry me,

you look me same dog,

But after you look pussy me,

you happy too much!”

“noom bao saao parn”

greet yaang yoo dtai mai bplot pai
Tapping rubber in the South isn’t safe,

maa kap win mor-dter-sai yoo nai gor-tor-mor
so I came to ride “Win” motor-cycle taxi in Bangkok.

ai kai nui look tak-sin roop lor
That kid of Thaksin are handsome.

mai chop pleng haat-kor chop pleng kaa raa-baao
He doesn’t like hard-core songs, but likes Carabao’s songs.

daai faen bpen dek naew saai dieow
Got a young lover, one who wears the latest trendy single strap blouse.

dtae yoo gan dieow dieow gor ok laai nam-nao
But being together with her just for awhile was enough to reveal her foul behavior.

bok yoo gan bpai gor ot dtaai bplao-bplao
She said to stay on with me then would only to be starved to death for nothing.

beua laew kaa raa-baao yaak ja moh dern-dok
She said to stay on with me then would only to be starved to death for nothing.

kon jon gor loie mai ying yai naam dtaa dtok nai rak maa soot raang
Poor people, as a result, wouldn’t be prominent; so with tears flowing inwards, love came to the end of its track.

san-yaa naa fon man gao hua kwaai dtong sao saao jaao laang baang
Rainy season’s promises, they’re obsolete; Buffalo’s head must be sad, his young princess eliminated.

saao jan nong naang jaak baan naa
A young girl, a damsel from a farm home,

maa siang duang cha dtaa peua ja jer chohk dee
Came here to risk her fate, hoping to to find good-luck.

jop mor 3 yang mai kaam mor 4 leuak aa cheep sa-dtree kaai bor-ri-gaan
Had finished grade 3, but still haven’t pass grade 4; chose the occupation as a lady selling her services.

bpen baan-lek kong sia yai sia mai kao jai tam-mai leu chop pleng bpaan
Became a mistress of a prominet rich man. The rich man doesn’t understand why one should like Parn’s song.

man daa poo chaai laai jai tang wan sia chak ram-kaan lerk gan dee gwaa
Those songs condemns about men’s flirtation the whole day. The rich man was somewhat annoyed by it, hence to breakup would be better off.

poo ying took kon ao dtae jai naam dtaa dtok nai dtop meu kaang dieow
Every girl is self-willed; hence with tears flowing inwards, she’s left having to clap with one hand.

reuang ngaai-ngaai tee poo chaai mai roo dtae poo ying kao roo poo chaai mai gieow
Simple matters that men don’t know, but girls knew them in depth; men are not involved.

kwaam ngao bpen kua-buak kua lop
Loneliness is like positive and negetive poles,

noom saao daai maa pop gan nai keun raao raan
young man and girl gets to meet in the night of sadness.

kon ngao yom kao jai kon ngao
Lonely people can understand lonely people,

meua saai dtaa sao ๆ song bpai tak taai gan
when their sights of sadness were sent to greet each other.

noom kor pleng baao saao gor kor pleng bpaan
Young man ask for Carabao’s songs, young girl ask for Parn’s songs.

noom rong pleng baao saao gor rong pleng bpaan
Young man sings Bao’s songs, young girl then sings Parn’s songs.

dok rak pli baan na dta-wan daeng
Flower of love blooms at “Tawan Daeng”.

noom saao saan kwaam sam-pan
Young man and girl weave a relationship.

yaai bpai yoo duay gan yaang kao ok kao jai
They moved in to live together, understanding each other’s heart.

bpert pleng bpaan fang duay gan dton baai
Turn on Parn’s song to listen along in the afternoon;

glap jaak win-mor-sai gor bpert kaa raa-baao
When he returned from Win Motor, he would then turn on Carabao’s songs.

song raeng ruam duay chuay gan wang waa eek mai naan man dtong dee gwaa gao
Both strongly together, and helping each other, hoping that not long things would be better than before.

bplian sa-wan bon din hai bpen daao
Change this heaven on earth into stars,

waa ja bpert raan lao cheu waa raan baao bpaan
And will open a wine shop, and name the shop Bao-Parn.

noom baao saao bpaan noom baao gap saao bpaan
Young Bao, young Parn; young Bao with young Parn,

song gaai hua jai dieow gan ruam saang dtam naan rak tor-ra-hot
2 bodies with hearts as one, together will build a legend of enduring love.

noom baao saao bpaan noom baao gap saao bpaan
Young Bao, young Parn; young Bao with young Parn,
